The DHA and the Military Service Surgeons General operate Military Treatment Facilities (MTFs) worldwide that make up the direct care delivery system. The MTFs include clinics (stand alone, non-bedded facilities), community hospitals, and medical centers that are staffed by military personnel, civilian employees and contract staff. The contract staff is comprised of numerous medically-related occupations.
